The Home School is amongst the oldest schools in Bangalore, India. Ms. Robinson, a North American missionary, felt Basavanagudi, a locality of Bangalore, and its neighbouring areas required a good school. Her father, Bishop Robinson, had started Baldwin's High School, Bangalore. Ms. Robinson had been the Principal there for some years. In 1930, Ms. Robinson along with Ms. Donne, a British lady started The Home School.
A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart like mine.
Miss Donne was a founder of The Home School. As Superintendent, she raised the status, strength and discipline of the school. She was very kind hearted and helped scores of people. The sorrows of the poor were close to her heart and her goodness to them is well known. She has a deep fondness for animals and cared for a number of them.
Miss Madapa was a student of Miss Robinson in Baldwin' Girls High School . She grew very close to Miss Robinson and Miss Donne and was very dear to them. She too joined the Home School and looked after the Kindergarten. She took her Kindergarten training from abroad. She then took charge of The Home School Kindergarten Section. We can with pride say that it was the Home School...
Miss Robinson was born in India. She was the daughter of Bishop John E. Robinson, the eminent missionary from America. Though educated in America, India was her home. She was Principal for some years of the Baldwins' Girls' High School, and later, in 1930, founded the Home School. She was Principal of the school till she passed away in 1961.
The Home School came into safe hands of Mr. R Venkatachalam, who was, himself an old student of this school, and who grew up under the care of our Founder, Miss Robinson. A favourite of Miss Robinson, it was in him that she seemed to have found the One to guide and bear the Home School Torch. He took over the management of the school in 1989
